Republican Leadership?

Ladies and gentlemen, the “leadership” has no clothes and finally my beloved Democrats are calling them naked liars. The news of a newly feisty Democratic leadership unveiled a video presentation of Mitch McConnell lying about the Wall St reform bill. This was reported by the team at MSNBC’s First Read.

Dick Durbin, Harry Reid and Chuck Schumer unleashed the hounds of truth and took it to the minority leader’s tactic from the GOP pollster) Frank Luntz’s playbook. Hey Mitch, just saying that the bill will institutionalize bailouts does not make it so. When you lie so often and get caught so often, thinking and rational people stop believing you.

The Republican “leadership” is sailing a once honorable and mature political party into the abyss of fringery. They would rather support bill requiring people of color to produce papers if they “look” like illegal aliens. The normal person outrage against this bill proposed in AZ and endorsed by candidate, J.D. Hayworth is growing louder by the day.

Republicans, take back your party and then maybe you will have a chance to take back your country. Don’t buy into the lies and fear-mongering, these morons mistake for honorable opposition. You do have sensible ideas to offer and this country of ours needs you to get rid of these idiots.

Most of all, please stop poisoning your minds with the garbage barfed out by Fox News. They do not have your interests in mind and do not care about you. Rupert Murdock and his vampires do not mean OUR country any good. They want to keep you scared and the nation divided. Our Union is our strength and our enemies know this. Don’t you think they are loving the vitriol and hate we are aiming at each other. STOP IT!!! Boycott Rupert’s empire and start with Fox News which has been proven to be a fund raiser for the the current “leadership” which always panders to the worst in us.

I will close with what the big guns at Fox News really think of their viewers. I am reporting, you decide: http://assimilatedpress.blogspot.com/2006/09/rupert-murdoch-calls-fox-news-viewers.html

Mitch McConnell – Right Wing Flunky

First of all, good and decent people of Kentucky, what were you thinking when you pulled the lever for this creepy gnome? He offers nothing constructive to the governing discourse. He constantly speaks of bipartisanship then votes against bills with Republican amendments. One of the chief obstructionists to the recovery of this country, he has pandered and licked the boots of his constituents, the coal lobby which is guilty of not only murdering miners in the name of profits but also destroying the great hills of his once proud state and poisoning the nearby residents with the toxic runoff in to the drinking water from that mountain consuming mining. Yet this man begins so many of his lies with “the American People” Really? Do you think he gives a rat’s ass about “the American People”?  All of this he does in a quest for one thing, control of the Congress so that the party can continue.

Here is vintage video of what Kentuckyan’s really think of him. Cause for pause when Mitch McConnell gets on the senate floor and claims to speak for the American People or Kentucky. The man is a disgraceful tool whom Kentucky must vote out when his term is up.

For more of his greatest hits visit Mitch McConnell’s Low Lights. I challenge you to find any video that shows this man in a decent light or doing anything good whatsoever to help anyone but himself. Kentucky you are better and bigger than an annual horse race. Now prove it.

By the way, Boehner, you are an easy target but you are next.

Some Truth About Obama’s Tax Deal

Politics Chicago style was in full effect when our President Obama snookered the GOP give-us-tax-cuts-for-the-rich-like-us crowd led by McConnell and Boehner in to agreeing to the biggest, most effective and targeted stimulus in American history!

Could the Dems actually be complicit with our president by feigning their indignation over what they hold out as a bad deal? You know what the Republicant’s strategy is, if the Dems like it we will oppose it. I would like to think that my beloved Democratic Party got their mojo back and are finally playing smart politics. If the Dems come out loud and strong against the deal, it is almost guaranteed that the GOP Neanderthals will in knee-jerk fashion vote overwhelmingly for the deal. The Dems can then quietly vote yes on this brilliant piece of negotiating and save the country!

I give big “I Got Beef” props to Bernie Sanders, Democratic Senator from Vermont for conducting an old fashioned “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington” style filibuster to close the deal in the senate. Surely, if Bernie Sanders, self avowed socialist is willing to launch this filibuster, then the Dems and Obama must really hate it therefore the GOP must vote for it.

Surely, if Nancy Pelosi, the most effective Speaker of the House in modern history, does not want to bring the proposal to a vote, then the House Dems must hate it, therefore the GOP must vote for it. Surely, if the Democratic Caucus was raucous ;) enough to make sure that comments such as “f”@k the president” and “we can’t trust him” were loud enough to be heard by denizens of the White House press corps, they must be really pissed at the black guy, therefore the GOP must vote for it.

I apologize for calling you Shirley – RIP Leslie Nielsen

Did the Dems finally figure out that they must use the GOP pin-headedness against them? Make sure that a big show is put on that they hate a piece of legislation, assuring a GOP ratification of the measure. That ladies and germs is how you get around the party of No.

I would like to think that my beloved Democrats have figured it out and will dedicate themselves to proving to the Tea Baggers, pseudo-conservatives, Uber-partisans and the thinking American public just what the New and Improved GOP is all about. Sadly, I fear that the truth is that they are being played as well but, for a far nobler cause.

Letting the GOP think they have beaten the president into submission, 2 years of tax breaks. Eating crap from your own party to sell the hatred of the deal, a few days in the news cycle. Job growing stimulus, middle class payroll tax break, getting rid of the “uncertainty” of the “job-creators” thereby spurring on hiring and making a dent in unemployment, Inheritance tax: After a year’s lapse, individual estates worth more than $5 million (twice that for couples) are now subject to a 35% levy whose current tax rate is zero, Payroll tax holiday: Will extend across all income levels, costing $120 billion. A couple making $70,000 a year will see $1,400 in savings, Businesses: Will be able to deduct 100% of the cost of new investments for the next two years, Stimulus extensions: Expanded versions of the college tuition deduction, child tax credit, and earned income credit will remain on the books, Emergency unemployment benefits: A 13-month extension will affect 2 million workers set to be cut off by the end of the year,

PRICELESS!!

Well played Mr. President!! This is who I voted for.

Thank you Dr. Paul

I would like to extend my personal thanks for clearing up the mystery behind the euphemism, “Conservative.”

With his decisive trouncing of Trey Grayson, Mitch McConnell’s endorsee, he has proven that good ole Mitch has absolutely no juice in his home state of Kentucky. This also proves that when McConnell uses the phrase, the American People, he is speaking for a minority so small that any objections he makes to anything, he cannot be taken seriously; which I don’t believe any thinking American did any way. He has single handedly indicted the “just say no” policy of his Senate Minority leadership as impotent and nothing more than sour grapes because the right guy won.

Then the Tea Bagger candidate, had an interview on the Rachel Maddow Show, and the sky fell. He exposed what the “movement” is all about. He said exactly what they mean when the say “We want our country back!!” He removed all doubt as to why militia’s are being formed in red neck states. He ripped the scab off any notion that, people carrying guns to rallies are really protesting for a constitutional right to bear arms. He showed that the Tea Baggers are made up of a bunch of scared white people who are looking for some one to lead the nation back to the “good ole days” of segregation, fire hosings, beatings, murders, rapes and discrimination based on your not being white.

What he said is what he actually believes. The only reason he did not call for the outright repeal of civil rights legislation was that he knew that it would be political suicide. Hard as he has been trying to walk back the positions he took this will dog him for quite a while. Even if the outrage does wane, you better believe his Democratic opponent, Jack Conway, will remind all of Kentucky and the nation of what he really believes.

In a nutshell he believes that it is OK to treat people inhumanely; to discriminate on any basis whatsoever. Never mind that he would nor like to be treated that way but he is just a good ole boy from Kentucky and he’s alright. He is one of them.

So Thank you Dr. Paul there is no more doubt as to what the true Conservatives, the Tea Baggers are all about. Got any relatives in Arizona? Is it a Southern thing?

Mitch McConnell The Sequel

David Gregory, host of  Meet The Press is really coming into his own as a tough questioner who tries to make his guests take positions, clarifying those positions while boiling them down to a yes or no answer. He has begun to challenge his guests positions where merited. Where he has been unsuccessful in forcing a stand to be taken and acknowledged, he has exposed many as the talking point parrots they are. They do not answer the questions or espouse convictions as much as they change the subject and turn on an opposition attack. Do not answer the question, pivot to the talking point.

If you saw this week’s episode of Meet The Press dated 8/22/2010 you saw this post coming a mile away. Senate Minority “Leader”, Mitch McConnell was on, armed with his talking point and again, not one solution, not one new idea. He employed the exact same tactics I have listed above as do most of the current GOP leadership. An excerpt in this man’s ridiculous performance follows. If you would like to read the rest of it, if you can stomach it, will be accessible through the link at the end of the excerpt. Please remember to scroll down and click SHOW MORE TEXT. All info Courtesy of Meet The Press on the MSNBC website. Video is also available on the site where you can see the sweat forming on his upper lip in HD. Enjoy!

MR. GREGORY: Let’s move on to some

domestic matters. Here was the headline in a

Washington Post editorial on Friday with

regard to policy issues: “With the tax vote,

Republicans fail in their attempt to appear

fiscally responsible.” You and other

Republicans would like to see the Bush-era tax

cuts extended. The president, of course,

wants to repeal them except for those on the

wealthiest Americans; in other words, those

taxes would go up. What are you prepared to

do to pay for an extension of tax cuts for

everybody?

SEN. McCONNELL: This has been tax law in, in

America for almost 10 years now, existing tax

law. What the administration is proposing,

and the majorities in the House and Senate, is

to raise taxes on the top 2 brackets, which will

affect 50 percent of small business income

and in–and impact 25 percent of the work

force. For example, if you look at last–the

last quarter of last year, 84 percent of the jobs

that were lost were lost in small business. I

think it is outrageous to suggest that raising

taxes in the middle of a recession is a good

idea.

MR. GREGORY: Point taken. But, Senator, my

question is…

SEN. McCONNELL: If they want to have–if

they want to have that debate…

MR. GREGORY: But my question is how do you

pay for an extension of tax cuts? Because if

you’re concerned, as Republicans say they are,

about cutting spending and the deficit, you

have to acknowledge that tax cuts are not paid

for.

SEN. McCONNELL: Well, what, what, what,

what are you talking about paid for? This is

existing tax policy. It’s been in place for 10

years. What they’re talking about is raising

taxes, impacting 50 percent of small business

income in the middle of what most Americans

think is a recession. That is not a responsible

thing to do in my judgment.
