Republicans Causing Uncertainty

I must admit that I did laugh at first at the Kayak.com commercial but then when I saw it again, I got angry. It seems to me that the morons in the commercial are exactly who the Republican leadership has become. They know the right things to do to fix the economy. They are correct in saying that social programs need to be run more efficiently by cutting waste, fraud and abuse. They are insane by professing the ideology that revenues, yes, taxes, need not be raised.

Every economic authority has said that the only way out is through a balanced approach of both cuts and revenue raising. Now let’s talk about the revenue The President wants to raise. He wants to go back to the tax levels prior to the Bush taxcuts on those making $250,00 and more.

WE ARE TALKING ABOUT A FRICKIN 3% INCREASE, PEOPLE. THAT IS ONE LESS SHOPPING TRIP IN A YEAR TO THE RICHEST 1% OF PEOPLE WHO NOW CONTROL OVER 10% OF THE WEALTH IN THIS NATION.

You mean to tell me that Multi-billion corporations are not  creating  jobs here because of 3%? If 3% is stopping them from being good corporate citizens or hiring, they should not be in business. It is the government that provides the security for these corporations and individuals. It is the government that provides the infrastructure so that they can move themselves and products around. It is the government that makes sure food is safer to eat. It is the government that shows up whenever there is a disaster. It is the government that has enabled them to live as large as they do. The richest 1% needs to pay their part of the bill to run a great country and 3% would be a great down payment.

Is it really a 3% tax increase that has the “job creators” nervous and “uncertain”? Let’s be serious for a moment. During the Bush years we saw a mass exodus of  jobs to overseas locations where the “job creators” do not need to pay a living wage nor provide benefits. A net of 3 million jobs were created when the tax cuts were enacted. During the period when the “job creators” were actually paying closer to their fair share of taxes at the 3% higher rate, 22 million jobs were created. You do the math.

Are to believe the morons who say that 3% is what is causing “uncertainty” stopping the “job creators”  from hiring? Are we to continue subsidizing the lifestyles of a select few at the expense of education, on the back of our seniors and less fortunate of us in the hopes that they will create jobs? Are we to allow 3% from the top brackets to starve our federal government?

Let’s be clear about the cuts these morons want and how they want to do them. With every cut, someone somewhere is losing a job. With every cut is a tax hike or cut at the state level causing school closings, teacher, firefighter and police firings. With every cut the way the morons want to do it hundreds and thousands of us have a harder way to go. If the federal government just cuts without increasing revenue, taxes, the next time there is a disaster in this country, no one will show up. What then? This country won’t even be able to take care of it’s own. Hello 3rd world status!

The American worker was once the envy of the world. Only in America could a family work for someone else and have the benefits and privileges only dreamed about elsewhere. The previous generation of  “job creators” understood that if the lifestyle of a robust middle class was the envy of the world, that the entire country would be the envy of the world. It appears that their silver spooned offspring forgot that principle. FOR GOD’S SAKE, HOW MUCH IS ENOUGH?

I submit to you that what is creating “uncertainty” is if this country’s rebound from a huge economic crisis will be held hostage by an uneducated fringe of morons. “Job creators” need to be patriots and bring back the middle class because if the American Dream becomes a reality again, this country can be great once more and lead by example rather than war. These morons have obstructed this administration and Congress, all in the quest to see the black guy in the White House fail. Obstruction after obstruction; what have they actually done to help solve any of the problems we are facing. What have these morons done other than say no to everything; even ideas they know in their hearts will work and that they once supported. Ask yourself, what has the Republican party done for me lately. I will tell you in a future post EXACTLY what they have given us.

ANYONE WHO COLLECTS A PAYCHECK AND VOTES THESE REPUBLICAN AND TEA BAGGER MORONS BACK INTO OFFICE, IS HIMSELF A MORON. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU!!! GET IT YET?!!

Attack Of The Corporations – The Formula

The Supreme Court was supposed to be the last fail-safe protector of the citizenry. This is the Judicial Branch that was to be the last check upon the Legislative and Executive branches of the government to prevent over – reaching by those who would use their positions in these branches to put forward personal agendas which have nothing to do with safe guarding the people. It seems that this branch itself has also been invaded by corporate agendas.

The last protector of the citizenry voted to allow the new gangsters, which are what the modern corporations have become, to be treated as a regular voting citizen. Through pseudo-grass-roots, otherwise known as Astroturf organizations, they are allowed to contribute as much money as they like to a candidate who favors them or run advertisements that support their bottom lines in the names of “The American People”. They call themselves names like, “Citizens for this blah, blah” and “American institute for that blah, blah, blah”. Their latest tactic comes straight from the Republican playbook. Define an issue and punctuate it with that dreaded 3 letter word “tax”. Here is a video from the manufacturers of soda and high sugar content, “juice” drinks that attempts to scare us about the governments over reach in to our lives and of course punctuates the whole thing with the word, tax.

The organization that sponsors this spot is called, Americans Against Food Taxes or the AAFT. They are a front group of the American Beverage Association, makers of Pepsi, Coke and the usual suspects responsible for making this country obese by pushing their product at every turn, on every occasion and under any circumstance. There is nothing wrong with an occasional soda but, the target audience for their attack are low income and largely minority audiences. This audience coincidentally are the ones with the highest rates of obesity, diabetes and other ailments with a direct correlation to the amount of soda and sugary drinks they and their families consume.

Notice the spokeswoman appears to be a Latina. I am stunned that there wasn’t a heavy set black woman there but I guess that is so, 20th century. The well-written argument she puts forth is pretty compelling by intent. However,if someone really must have a soda, they will buy it over water under any scenario tax or no tax. The fact is that if these items are more expensive then one would lower their consumption of these items. The ABA can’t have that!! It effects the bottom line.

It is not difficult to see through these propaganda campaigns to keep the hard working populace asleep and under thumb if you know who is doing the talking. I submit to you that all one needs to do is be aware when watching TV. When you see a commercial that supposedly speaks for “your best interest”, question it. Like the Americans Against Food Taxes for, example just appeared out of no where, got tens of thousands of members to contribute to put out this commercial to defend the beverage industry from a proposed tax increase on their product.

You have the formula laid out for you. Arm yourselves with wide open eyes and your inquisitive mind. Ask yourself, “Who stands to benefit from this message?” Is the word tax included in the message? Are the words, “American for”, Americans against”, or citizens or anything patriotic sounding in the name of the organizations who have sponsored the commercial? Then odds are, they are a front group for a corporation or group of corporations who do not care about you!
